Why am
I doing this website?
I started
working on this website several years ago. I had always
had a bit of an interest in my family history and as
a young child was always fascinated by the stories and
anecdotes that I heard. As I grew older, I realized
that not every family was able to trace their past.
With the advent of the internet back in the early 90's
I began to see the rise of various sites offering the
ability to do genealogical research. So many of the
sites vary wildly in their formatting. I've also discovered
that a great deal of the information out there is inaccurate.
Going back many generations I started to see variances
depending on the source of the historical records. Some
countries have better records than others. Names are
completely different depending on the record source.
A good example is Charlemagne. He is known in German
sourced records as Karl der Grobe, Charlemagne in French
records and Charles I in Most UK sites. Dates for life
events can vary as well. Internet sourced information
can be wrong. In that light, I started this site to
document information about my family that I could verify
with actual people and records that I had in my possession.
It's a long process to sift through and digitize generations
worth of information. What I've learned is that people
are more than just an entry on a website with birth,
marriage and death dates. They lived full, interesting
lives and are so much more than a data blip. I've set
this site up for a more modern approach, taking newer
technology into account. Most people use mobile devices
more frequently than actual computers, so this site
is easily accessible on all devices. I've taken a pictorial
approach to introduce people to get a more insightful
view into their lives. While not a traditional genealogical
approach, it’s a bit more interesting.
Enjoy!
